‘The Morrighan’ by Frans Mensink
A couple of years ago I was working on the first version of the information I wanted to put online concerning an Mhór Ríoghain. At that time one of the things I wanted for that page were appropriate images that embodied some of the things I was saying. I looked all over the web and yet I was unable to find anything that was just right. I couldn't find anything at all that was even supposed to be her.
In the course of all of this I discovered the web site of an illustrator from The Netherlands named Frans Mensink. I liked his work and from his site I learned that he was a prolific creator, always looking for new material and inspiration. I wrote to him and proposed the idea of doing an image of the Morrighan. I told him a lot about her and what she means to me. Much to my surprise and delight he was interested and started playing around with the idea. Several years have passed now and I think he has turned out some really fantastic sketches, including a coloured picture not too long ago. I don't think he is quite satisfied yet, but that is one of the marks of a true artist.
I've included several of the sketches and the coloured image below for you to see, and I strongly encourage you to visit Frans' site and see some of the other fantastic work that he has done.
